You Get What You Pay For

With the economy being the way it is, it is easy to cut back on everything. While that’s not always a bad thing, there are just some things that you should just pay for.

Ruth Mantell over at the Wall Street Journal writes that you should pay for expert advice. Quoting Eric Tyson, author of  “Personal Finance for Dummies”:

If you are making important decisions, I think it’s worth paying for good advice, whether you need an attorney, a tax adviser or a financial adviser.

You don’t want to skip advice if you’re in an important transaction.

Case in point: We were recently retained by a client to counsel them on purchasing a piece of real estate;  they figured for the price they were paying, they should have some legal counsel.  We’ve explained certain terms in the lengthy contract to them and helped them negotiate certain items of the contract, and they were been able to get very favorable concessions from the seller.
