Steve Blank has a great article & discussion on why lawyers don’t run startups. While most people are only familiar with attorneys when things go wrong, there are a lot of attorneys out there that help clients wade the through their business transactions.
As lawyers, we often have to identify potential risks in a transaction, and sometimes clients don’t like to hear what might mess up a deal. However, we should be helping clients trying to find solutions in which the client finds the risk/reward balance favorable to them . Ultimately, it comes down to a business decision on whether to proceed.
Have you used at attorney with your business transaction? Did they help you find solutions?
